Healing the Inner Child Through Embodied Presence

23rd-26th April
There was a time before you learned to leave your body.
Before you learned to be good, strong, spiritual, or self-sufficient.
Before your nervous system organised itself around vigilance, adaptation, or restraint.
This retreat is an invitation to return — not to the past, but to the living intelligence of the body, where the youngest parts of us are still listening for safety, attunement, and permission to exist.
Many of us learned early that it was not safe to feel too much, want too much, or be too visible. Some of us found refuge in competence, others in caretaking, transcendence, or spiritual devotion. Over time, these adaptations hardened into identity. The body learned to endure — but not to rest.
This is a gentle, grounded retreat for those who sense that healing does not come from pushing through, analysing more deeply, or re-telling the story again — but from learning how to stay present with what once had to be left behind.
What We Will Explore
Coming Home to the Body
We begin by restoring trust in sensation — learning to listen to the body and recover our sensitivity as a gift rather than a burden. Through slow, attuned practices, we reconnect with the body as a place that can hold experience without overwhelming it.
Repair Without Regression
Rather than collapsing into younger states, we practise staying present with them. This allows for integration rather than reenactment, and for healing that does not require emotional collapse or catharsis.
Innocence, Play, and Aliveness
Innocence here is not naivety or compliance, but unviolated aliveness. Through gentle movement, creative expression, and moments of unstructured play, the body is invited to rediscover curiosity, pleasure, and ease — at its own pace.
Re-Parenting
We explore what inner authority feels like when it is rooted in attunement rather than domination. This includes noticing and softening internalised voices of pressure, morality, and spiritual “shoulds,” and cultivating a steady, kind presence that can stay.
Somatic Resourcing
Over time, the body itself becomes a place of refuge — capable of holding sensation, emotion, and desire without abandoning the younger parts within. We will use Somatic practices that teach us how to regulate ourselves through internal and external resources.
How We Work
The retreat is grounded in:
- somatic awareness and nervous-system literacy
- trauma-informed, choice-based practices
- compassionate inquiry and embodied listening
- nature-based attunement and simple ritual
- relational exercises that prioritise witnessing over fixing
There is no pressure to share, perform, or participate in everything. Silence is welcome. So is laughter. Rest is considered part of the work.
